SolarFlare is a autonomous solar panel cleaning robot with minimal water usage and minimal operating costs for solar farms in arid regions. We define solar farms to be a large collection of ground-mounted solar panels covering about 500 acres and having a capacity of 100 MW.

5-bar linkage design with 2 motors
We chose two geared Nema 17 stepper motors as the actuators. The total gearing ratio (planetary gearbox and timing belt) is 1:51. Because vertical movements and tilting movements are coupled in this 5-bar linkage configuration, numerical inverse dynamics needs to be calculated in runtime. Denote the desirable end point D coordinate as (x, y), the desired angle at motor A and motor B can be calculated as:
